Start Up Visa (SUV)

Start Up Visa Program is a Canada immigration pathway that allows innovative entrepreneurs and their families from overseas to enter Canada and build new businesses. Applicants can live in Canada on a Work, Visitor, or Study Permit while their Permanent Residence application is under processing.

Meeting the program requirements and showing that the business idea has real potential in Canada are key factors for approval.

When permanent residence is granted: The applicant must actively manage the business in Canada, with core operations conducted locally and the company incorporated in Canada.
Qualifying Business at commitment stage: Each applicant must hold at least 10% or more voting rights in the business.
Letter of Support: A support letter must be secured from a designated organization such as a Start-up Incubator, Angel Investor Group, or Venture Capital Fund.
Language Proficiency: Applicants must meet a minimum CLB 5 in English or French across all four abilities—listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
