

PEI PNP – Business Impact Category
Canadian PNP- Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) includes a Work Permit Stream under its Business Impact Category. This pathway allows competent entrepreneurs and senior managers to establish, invest in, and personally run a business in province of PEI before becoming eligible for provincial nomination for Canada PR.
Applicants must show either at least 3 years of business ownership experience or at least 5 years in a senior management role within the past 10 years.
A minimum personal net worth of CAD $600,000 is required. All assets must be lawfully acquired and verified through an approved 3rd party financial assessment provider.
Applicants must be ready to invest at least CAD $150,000 into a new or existing business located in Prince Edward Island and remain actively involved in its operations.
Applicants should be between 21 and 59 years of age and must have completed at least secondary (high school) education.
A minimum language level of CLB 4 in English or French is required, proven through IELTS General, CELPIP-G, or TEF results.
Applicants must show a genuine intention to live in Prince Edward Island while directly managing the daily operations of the business.
A detailed and practical business plan is required, explaining how the business will function and how it aligns with PEI’s economic and development priorities.
An exploratory visit to Prince Edward Island is strongly recommended to gain first-hand understanding of the local business environment, though it is not mandatory.
Submit an online Expression of Interest through the PEI immigration portal. Profiles are scored and placed into a selection pool.
Candidates are selected from the pool based on EOI ranking and current program requirements. Selected applicants receive an Invitation to Apply.
Submit a complete application package including required forms, supporting documents, business plan, and applicable fees.
Attend a mandatory in-person interview in Prince Edward Island as part of the assessment process.
If approved, sign a Performance Agreement and receive a Letter of Support to apply for a temporary work permit.
Relocate to PEI, establish the business, and actively manage its day-to-day operations while holding the work permit.
After meeting all Performance Agreement conditions, typically after 12 months of operation, applicants may be nominated for Permanent Residency.

Applicants must establish and operate their business in Prince Edward Island on a work permit before becoming eligible for nomination. Passive investment is not permitted under this stream.
CAD $10,000 (non-refundable). Submission of the Expression of Interest is free.
Approximately CAD $4,000–$6,000, payable directly to the designated third-party firm.
CAD $155, plus biometrics if required.
Work Permit and Permanent Residency
Once the Letter of Support is issued, applicants may apply to IRCC for a one-year employer-specific work permit tied to their PEI business.
After completing at least 12 months of business operation and meeting all Performance Agreement requirements, PEI may issue a provincial nomination. Applicants then apply to IRCC for permanent residence through the non-Express Entry PNP stream. Eligible spouses and dependent children may be included.
